Pirates Party Ideas, Games, Recipes and Crafts

Always extremely popular with kids, Pirates Parties bring excitement and mystery to boys and girls birthday parties.

Stock Status:(Out of Stock)
Product Code: PIRATEPARTY

Description

Let’s start with some decoration.

Red and black are the best colors to use. Decorate with pictures of pirates’ ships, cardboard anchors and parrots. Pirate flags on doors and pirate pennant banners on walls certainly add to the ambiance too. If possible ask for the children to come dressed as pirates. El Capitan Pirate Costume for boys and our Pirate Lass Costume for girls are just the thing. For a homemade costume, have kids wear a black vest on top of a long sleeved white shirt and boots on top of black pants. A red scarf or long piece of red cloth around the waist and head will finish off the outfit. An eye patch can be easily made with black cardboard and string. Don’t forget to color a front tooth black or gold!

Pirate Party Games

Treasure hunt

There is no pirate party without a treasure hunt!

Make sure to have a treasure chest box ready, fill it with chocolate gold coins, skull and bones candies, pirate suckers, pirate figures and hide it.  Have a map ready and give it to the designated captain, the birthday child in most cases, and he or she will have to lead his clan with the help of clues. The first object is found, and it will carry the clue to the second object, which will carry the clue to the third, and so on until they are leaded to the treasure chest. To avoid pirates fighting over the loot, divide the “treasure” among kids yourself. You can also place named loot bags for each guest inside the chest box.

Treasure Toss

Before the guests arrive use gold spray paint and plastic jewels to decorate a cardboard box and make it look like a chest. Our 11.75” long cardboard treasure chest box will work for less crafty parents.

Fill five bags with plastic gold coins. Stand kids in a line and place chest at a distance. Children will take turns to toss the bags into the box. You can hide the bags of coins around the house and tell kids to find them before playing the treasure toss game.

Cross Over

To make the plank use a 2 in. wide by 10 ft. long board. Place on the floor and have children take turns to walk across the board without falling off. Older children can be blindfolded. Our pirate party tattoos will make great prizes for those who make it to the end of the plank without falling!

Wrap the Pirate

To play this game, children need to be divided into pairs, with one taking the role of the doctor and the other the injured pirate. Tell kids a story about a pirate ship catching fire after a battle… the pirates are injured and must be bandaged!

Each doctor will be given a roll of toilet paper. On the word “Go”, the doctors have to race for who can bandage their pirate the fastest. Winner is the doctor who has finished to bandage his patient first with only the pirate’s face still showing! Remember to take pictures of the diligent doctors and their hilarious wrapped up patients.

The Cat o’ Nine Tails Game

You will need to provide the children with tails. This can be easily done with long strips of cloth of one Yard by 2 or 3 Inches.  Help them insert the tails into the back of their pants, so that the tails just touch the ground. The children have to chase each other and try to step on the tails in order to pull them out. Children who loose their tails are disqualified and the winner is the last one with a tail on.  Reward each player with skull and bones gummy candies.

Pirate Pinatas

Our treasure chest pinata is one of our best sellers. Other pirate themed pinatas that kids love are our skull and bones and pirate pinata. Use any of them to decorate your table or as props for your treasure hunt. Then fill with pirate value favors and candy filler and get ready to beat the pinata!

Pirate Party Recipes

Lots of chicken drum sticks and pizza for this theme. Nothing too delicate here, as a slightly rough and easy going atmosphere is called for! Decorate your table with Gold Tooth Pirate party supplies and spread chocolate milk coins all over the table. More artistic parents can cut a large piece of butcher paper to fit their table and draw a map on it to use as a fun table cover!

Pirates’ Ruby and Crystal Punch

You will have prepared the jewels by filling the ice trays with fruit punch, using red food coloring and small pieces of red fruit. Pour over lemonade and serve in clear plastic cups.

Pirate Cake

Make a simple pirate ship cake!  Use one of your favorite cake recipes and fill 2 rectangular pans of medium and small sizes. When cooked, place small cake over larger one, right in the middle. Cover with chocolate icing. Decorate both cakes’ sides with circles of white vanilla icing to make the windows. Stick a pirate flag at the top of the cake. Decorate with frosted pirate suckers.
