Inviting to a Tea Party

Once you have set a date, send out tea party invitations to your daughter’s best friends.

Your daughter can set the theme as regards to the costume, or let her friends turn up dressed up in a costume of their choice, as long as it is very glamorous! Your daughter may be tempted by our beautiful multi-colored star tutu and our glittery purse filled with make-up so she can get ready for her tea party. Tea parties are all about glamour, make up, purses and gossip!

Decorating for a Tea Party

Use streamers and balloons in pastel colors, such as lavender and pink, to decorate the party area. Our lavender crepe streamers and lavender balloons perfectly match our lovely tea party tableware. The most important part of a tea party is the table! Accent your table decoration with balloon centerpieces, a tea pot pinata and flower vases.

You can alternate paper tableware for easy clean up with a cheap porcelain tea set. Let girls serve tea from a real tea pot into paper cups or just fill tea pot with flowers to accent your table decoration!

Once everything is into place, it is time to have tea!

Tea Party Recipes

English Tea Scones
For a traditional tea party, you would be serving scones and clotted cream with strawberry jam. Very English! Here is the recipe:

8 ounces of flour and baking powder
pinch of salt
2oz butter
1oz caster sugar
5fl oz milk

Method
1. Heat the oven to 425F/Gas 7. Lightly grease a baking sheet.
2. Mix together the flour and salt and rub in the butter.
3. Stir in the sugar and then the milk to get soft dough.
4. Turn on to a floured work surface and knead very lightly. Pat out to a round  ¾ inch thick. Use a 2 inch cutter to stamp out rounds and place on a baking sheet. Lightly knead together the rest of the dough and stamp out more scones to use it all up.
5. Brush the tops of the scones with a little milk. Bake for 12-15 minutes until well risen and golden.
6. Cool on a wire rack and serve with butter and good jam and maybe some clotted cream.

Other Tea Party Treats

Cupcakes will also do nicely for a tea party. Decorate them with pink frosting and colorful sugar beans.

Have some strawberries covered in chocolate as well. Cucumber sandwiches and cream cheese are a must at a tea party, and don’t forget the ever so popular peanut butter and jam sandwiches too!

Tea Party Crafts

Princess Cookies

Buy some inexpensive crown cookie cutters, and make two cookies per child. Provide kids with pink frosting and sprinkles and let them decorate these edible crowns! The cookies can then be part of the snacks.

Tea Party Games

Dress Granny for a Tea Party
Find 2 large dresses, 2 glasses, 2 stockings, 2 hats and 2 pairs of large shoes. Put each set of clothes into a basket and have kids make 2 lines. Each team must choose who will be “granny”. “Granny” must stand at a distance from the other kids and on the word “Go” the first kid in each line must pick something from their basket, run to  “granny” and help her put it on. Then each player must run back to their line and the second kid in the line will get something from the basket and go put it on “granny”. The game is over when both grannies are completely dressed… the first team to use up all of the clothes is the winner! Use  beaded purses to reward the winners!

Musical Slipper

You will need a large dress shoe. Ask kids to sit in a circle. Instead of passing the shoe from hand to hand while the music plays, girls must put the shoe on one of their neighbor’s feet. This girl must take the shoe off her foot and put it on the next girl’s foot, and so on. When the music stops, the one with the shoe on has to stand out of the circle and is in charge of the music. The game goes on until only one girl is left. Our mini plastic tea party set makes a great prize!
