A Party at the Jungle! Steps to a Wild Safari Party

Hosting a jungle theme party is great fun! You can plan an unforgettable party if you let your imagination go as wild as your theme is. Let me give you a few pointers to throw a memorable safari party:

The kids will enjoy going on a safari in the wild. To create the ambiance and feel of the safari decorate the house or the party site in the jungle theme. Use green and brown paper to make crawlers and vines and put up wild animal cutouts at different spots. Prepare animal masks for the guests, or design some animal outfits that can be easily worn on top of their own clothes. Once the guests enter the party scene they should feel like they are part of the surroundings!

It will be a perfect setup if they get to explore the jungle to the hilt and engage in activities that remind them of being on a safari. Start by offering them red color candy and make believe they are malaria pills.

Once they enter the jungle they should be told all the rules for being in a safari. You can request them to present the safari passport invitation that you had sent them. Dress in tan shorts, shirt and outback hat and carry a lamp so as to show them around the jungle. Each child can be handed over a pair of toy binoculars and then shown around the jungle stopping by each wild animal cut out.

Take the kids down into the basement for a relay. Explain that they are descending into the deep African jungle to look for enormous spiders, hissing snakes and vampire bats. They have to be careful and watch themselves if they are to finish off this tour!

Decorate the basement with toy insects and reptiles. The one who spots the most animals in the basement wins a prize! To complete the jungle atmosphere play a jungle sounds Cd with roaring lions, elephant screams and hyena laughs.

You can have them follow the "river" that is drawn on the floor down the basement stairs and all the way through the entry to the main area. Hang green crepe paper from the ceiling and instruct them not to touch it as they are poisonous jungle weeds waiting to catch hold of them.

The tour can continue in the garden. Hang a rope from a tree or a beam at the porch that they can use to swing over the crocodile swamp drawn on the floor!

If you are throwing the party outdoors, ask parents to bring extra clothes for their kids. Use a water hose to surprise children with a tropical storm… nothing is more enjoyable than singing and dancing in the rain!
